Post 6: My favorite artist
Hello! Today we will write about our favorite artist, according to your own suggestions. Some information you need to include is:
- where they are from,
- the period of time in which they created their art,
- main characteristics of their art,
- what you like about their art,
- why they are special to you.
You can also include any other piece of information that you think is relevant, and include a picture of a work of art that is representative of your artist. Remember to post a comment here and comment on 3 other classmates posts.

My favorite artist is Hannah Höch, a German Dada artist. She is best known for her work during the Weimar period, which is the name of the period of time in Germany between the First World War and the Second World War. She is considered one of the creators of photomontage, which is a type of collage where real pictures are pasted.
Her photomontages usually show different people created from different pictures, as if they were mutilated and rebuilt, a bit dark and chaotic. This aesthetic clearly fit with the Dada movement, but she was never truly accepted as a Dada artist because of sexism.

I learned about her when I was at school, thanks to my art teacher. She mentioned Hannah Höch when she was talking about other types of doing art (not just painting), and she told me that I would like her. I looked for her art in Google, and I loved it – it is not only that she used a new technique in making art, but she also played with gender in her subjects, and tended to have a political message too.
Because of all of this and more, she is my favorite artist.
