Post 1: Autobiography

Hi everyone! In our first post this semester we will write our autobiographies. The information you need to include is:

  • Birth info
  • Studies (elementary/high school/university)
  • Family 
  • Hobbies
  • Others
You have to write a minimum of 120 words. And remember to make comments on three of your classmates posts + a comment on your teacher post as well.

So, here is my autobiography:

I was born in Iquique, Chile with the name Loreto Abarzúa Silva. I studied elementary school at Colegio Chipana until the 4th grade, when I moved to live in Santiago permanently after my parents got divorced. I completed my high school studies at Colegio Lorenzo Sazié, located in the district of Santiago.

I decided to study English linguistics and literature at Universidad de Chile, and finished my studies in 2013. Immediately after I graduated I started working as a teacher at UMCE (Ex Pedagógico), where I still work to this day.

I started working at U. de Chile in 2018, teaching English to students from the Chemical Sciences and Social Sciences faculties. This is my first semester working at the Arts Faculty, and I feel very excited to see what students here will teach me. 

My family still lives in Iquique, and I travel there at least twice a year to visit and stay with them. I miss them very much during the year, especially my mother and my three younger brothers - Juan is 22 years old and studies Law at UTA, Benja is 18 years old and studies car mechanics at Inacap, and Jano is 12 years old so he is in 7th grade. My father died 4 years ago.

I love reading different types of books (both novels and non-fiction), and I like solving jigsaw puzzles. In my free time I watch TV series and movies, and also I dance Caporales, which is a Bolivian dance.

    In my opinion Iquique is like Viña Del Mar but more more and more beautiful. I was in Iquique in 2017 from Iquique Carnaval and I see a lot of caporales groups, it was amazing! :)

    i like watch TV series in netflix, in the vacation i watch sex education and i thought is was very good because speaks of many interesting topics in this era, about of the LGBT community, about sex taboos, about abortion. i invite you to see her!!!

    One of the things that i love from Iquique is the chumbeque, is the perfect match with a english breakfast tea

    wow I love that you dance Caporales! I don't know that dance but dance is a beautiful exercise for everyone. I do contemporary dance last year and open so much my mind, is amazing .
